ICT products and services have been declared the product of the year 2022

To encourage export trade, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared 'ICT Products and Services' as 'National Product of the Year 2022'. He made the announcement while attending the inaugural function of the Dhaka International Trade Fair in a video conference from the Ganobhaban on Saturday (January 1). Stating that the government is giving importance to trade diplomacy, Sheikh Hasina said, "The head of government has already instructed every embassy including the foreign ministry to work in the same way." Sheikh Hasina said, "Digital Bangladesh was declared in the election manifesto of 2008 but we have been preparing for it since 1996." At that time, we took the initiative to use digital devices extensively. Following the principles of the Father of the Nation, we opened the way for trade and commerce. We opened up the construction of televisions and helicopters to the private sector. Not only this, with the help of mobile phones we are able to open up to the private sector. We have taken steps to use modern technology so that our country can advance in the industry. Calling on all concerned to increase quality to create a global market for Bangladeshi products, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Time is ours now, this is time for Bangladesh; We have to remember that and we have to take that opportunity.” Emphasizing diversification of export products, daughter of Bangabandhu said, "This is the age of technology. The world is moving towards the fourth industrial revolution. With this in mind, she emphasized research to create skilled manpower and maintain the quality of export products. Sheikh Hasina said, “Our exports have also increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, we have also taken huge initiatives in the export of ICT and digital devices. We have already been able to export 434 million US dollars in the fiscal year 2020-21. “Time now is ours; time is for Bangladesh; We have to remember that and we have to take that opportunity. This time I am announcing ICT products and services as the product of the year for 2022. Minister for Expatriate Welfare Imran Ahmed, Minister for Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Pratik), Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh, VCof Export Promotion Bureau AHM Ahsan, Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md. Jasim Uddin were present at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center at Purbachal while the inauguration took place. In addition, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce (Exports) Md. Hafizur Rahman and other senior officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development Bureau were present.
